The Lyot Filter
In January 1957, the solar observation station was installed at the Tonantzintla Observatory. The station had a Lyot Filter for the H Alfa line of the Balmer Hydrogen Series, this was in replacement of the Ross JW Fecker, 3 inch antique camera. The Lyot filter is made up of six quartz plates (between 1 and 20 millimeters thick) that transmit a band close to 3 armstrongs.
