Other Discoveries Made with the Schmidt Camera
Variable stars were discovered in different regions in which stars are being born, for example, the Orion Nebula, The Pleiades, Cygnus, Preasepe, Ophiuchus, Scorpius, NGC 226, etc.
Various photographic techniques were also developed; among the most important is one that allows several expositions in a single plate. In this type of photograph, it’s easy to distinguish a star without a change in luminosity from one that presents a sudden increase or decrease in shine. Due to the fact that they are recently formed stars, -speaking in terms of star ages-, the beginning of the stellar formation process takes thousands or even millions of years. Many photographic plates have been successfully obtained for the detection of variable stars.
